I dropped a coin (50Gp) one evening by the road and I had to search for it. It was getting dark and was really hard to find. My shadow was displayed right in front of me, making matters worse. I had to reposition myself, before I could find my coin. That is what shadows can do. They prevent you from seeing things clearly. Many of the things we did or went through have become our shadows, trying to prevent us from unlocking our wonderful future. And don’t get it twisted, the 50Gp that evening was really worth my search.
Most of us have a past that we want to remain buried, but unfortunately it keeps on showing its ugly face in our present lives. The past is very good at hunting and that is why we must be careful with what we do in the present since it will one day become our past. The purpose of this note is to give you a simple message and that is, you have a bright future but you have got to do away with the shadows of your past.
The reason why it is sometimes hard for the past to give up on us is because we make situations favorable for him to be around. Things we were never proud of, will always find a way to resurface but we don’t have to let the them define us.
Once you become a follower of Christ, the old things have passed away and behold everything iis new (2 Corinthians 5:17). You must understand this and know that you are a different person. The old you has no say in your life. That is why you must do away with things that contributed to your old life. Isaiah 43:18 also says "Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past.
Your future holds a wonderful blessing for you and the shadows of your past can mess it up for you, but only if you allow it. You might have been a prostitute, murderer, thief etc., but once you come to Christ you are no more. You are new. Don’t mind the people who always want to refer you back to your past. God loved you back then and loves you now. He wants you to forget those times and cherish this moment of change in your life.
It is never too late to turn your life around. You don’t have to live life as a heathen. God is real and your future is real. Your past is gone and you must allow it to stay there. Sometimes we loose people and things and we never let it go. We keep on trying to deduce reasons as to why it happened. But the truth of the matter is that, sometimes we have got to loose our minds in order to gain our minds. Let it go, for the future holds far greater things for you.
Personally, I regret a lot of decisions that I have taken in the past and I had almost allowed these regrets to control my life. Everything I did was with references to my mistakes in the past. But God has made it clear to me that, despite the mistakes that were made, I have still got my whole life ahead of me. So I should not waste it. I was living in the past but with Christ, I conquered. You can conquer too. He is more than able and ready to help you. All you have got to do is invite Him.
In conclusion, your past is gone, come out of it.
Your present is here, live it to the fullest.
Your future is bright, be prepared for it.
Am out.!!!
